textile.gif (1147 bytes)The Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, home of the Stanley Cup tossing Dallas Stars, the Telecom Corridor, the Dallas Cowboys, the Silicon Prairie, The President George Bush Tollway and the Texas Rangers has been selected by that secret fannish cabal, the Ditto Masters, to host the Millennial Ditto, Ditto #13, the weekend of September 22-24, Y2K.

Membership rate  is: $40 person attending (at the door), $15 supporting, $10 for children under 12. Make checks payable to NEIL KADEN and mail to: Ditto #13 c/o CircleNK 801 Timberwood Circle Fairview, TX 75069-9183. The Saturday night (7pm) BBQ Dinner is an additional $10 (see Pat Virzi for tickets). There will also be plentiful drinks and other refreshments at the Con Suite (contact the Harvias and the Thayers to volunteer for con sute duty)

ssmap.gif (5287 bytes)Hotel: We have negotiatied some really deeply discounted rates (given the area and the facilities) at the Summerfield Suites (www.summerfieldsuites.com  972-661-3113) in Addison, TX.   $74/night 1 BedRoom, $124 2BR, $134 3BR.  It's just off the tollway, near the Galleria, close to dozens of top restaurants, and features 1, 2 and 3 bedroom suites (all with full kitchen and living room). There is a shuttle which will take you to restaurants within 3-5 miles. Be sure to mention the ditto "writers conference" and call the (972) number to be part of the block. Note that the room block closed September 5 but there are still rooms available at the con rates. There are also sometimes limited rooms at a $55 thru the national chain's registration (800)833-4353) number, and a $59 AAdvantage rate (date restrictions apply) by calling Wyndam at 877-996-1873. CALL US IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH THE HOTEL @972-569-6899.

Transportation: An alternative to a cab from DFW ($15-25) would be catching one of the blue SuperShuttle vans (look for signs on the vans for Addison or North Dallas), which should be around $15/person ($6 each additional person) -- for exact fares call 800-BLUE VAN (258-3826). The hotel is next to the Addison DART transit station, so there are public busses from DFW too -- take the #202 to the North Irving transit Center ($2) and then the #400 to the Addison transit center ($1)(for info 214-979-1111). Also, if we know your arriving flight (and have a number to reach you at the day before) we'll try to arrange airport pick-up.

Ditto Banquet: The Saturday BBQ dinner will be a nominal $10/person. A whole bunch of local fans are coming just for the dinner and "First Saturday" party to follow, so be prepared for fun. See Pat Virzi at the con to buy your meal tickets.

Con Suite: The Thayers and the Harvias are sharing the responsibility of keeping munchies stocked in the Con Suite. Let them know if you can help out (tharvia@airmail.net). For early arrivals, there will be lots of food and optional side trips -- so bring your appetites and cameras
